If anyone is using Fentanyl patches and having problems with the patch
staying on here's the solution. You can call Johnson&Johnson and ask for the
Bioclusive Transparent Dressing and they will send you a box for FREE. The
phone number is 1800-526-7736. I used these dressings for as long as I used
the patch. It's like a big band-aid that fits over the patch and sticks to
you skin. I took showers with them on and never did they come off until I
wanted them to. It's kind of tricky at first but then it's real easy. IIRC I
would place the patch on the dressing halfway then place it on my arm then
peal the rest away. Anyway, they will send you enough so you can find the
easiest way. Just becareful and watch to see if you skin can take it. I had
a small rash one time in over 4 years of use.

I'm watching your post for the same answer, we really do need something to
help keep them on and replace the type glue
/adhesive there useing now, if I ever get the chance to try them again, I
had a hell of a time keeping them on, then had some kind of skin reaction
where my skin wrinkled up like water pruned up skin gets and burned and
itched like hell after 24hrs, this was always the second day and never the
first 24 hours for some strange reason, like the stick em built up in my
system or something then started to effect me, good luck, they put me on
oxycontin because I complained to much about the itch/burning senation :(,
the 75mcg patch did pretty good for 2 days with me but I wanted to try the
other patch drand duragesic which I was thinking may be better but never got
the chance, doctor said all patches work the same and they wern't for me,
blah... good luck though...Joe

to time (not that they really work) but i can never get them to stay
on!

Lidoderm patches have the drug IN the adhesive. When I have problems
with the lidoderm patches I use the non-adhesive wraps that stick only
to themselves. I only need to use that when I use the patch on a finger
or thumb for bad arthritis pain though. I use them a lot on my feet and
they stick well there. Have you tried shaving the area first?

I use them on my feet for my arthritis pain as well. it works and
sticks. the problem i have is getting them to stick on my shoulders
and neck. usually when i cannot get the lidoderm patch to stick on my
neck i go for the biofreeze (since capsisan sp? burns and hurts my
skin too much). the last few days i have horrible neck pain that will
not go away no matter what i put on it or what i take! ugh... having
the patch on there would be nice tho. it seems as tho they do not
stick well in areas that i move a lot (like my shoulder blades). they
work pretty well in general for bedtime so i would like to find a way
to get them to stick in tricky spots during the day.

Hey Rachel! In my feet I have a peripheral neuropathy. If I use the
lidoderm patches on them I do so at night and they feel better in the am
and early in the day. My feet are much better since I have had a spinal
cord stimulator implanted so I don't use the patches that much. I
usually take pain meds when my feet are really bothering me after a long
day at work. I don't have any shoulder sticking ideas I have to say...
what about a huge tegaderm or paper tape around the sides? My biggest
problem is that some of the adhesive sticks to my feet after I have
removed the patches. When I get in the shower it's really slippery. I
have to remember that or it could be dangerous.

I just use Tegaderm. This kept the patch on. Stopped the chemical burning.
Etc.

My doc gave me nose spary and said it stops the skin reaction but there's
no way you can put the patch on a wet area and remotely expect it to stay
on, I put it on and let it dry but I didn't get to use the patch long enough
to tell if it stopped the burning really sorry to say, I think keeping them
on is the first thing that needs to be addressed, IMHO of course...Joe

Nobody said they put the patch on wet. You must of misunderstood when I said
you can shower. The point was once the patch is on there is nothing that
will remove the patch unless you want it to come off. The company knows all
the problems people have with the patches that why they've offered their
product for free.

My doctor said put the spray on then the patch not you, and like I said
I wasn't on them long enough to really try it, I did screw up the first
patch though, to much liquid left over and Very Little Adhesion at all on
that one, 3 or 4 bandaids helped the others on but the itiching drove me
crazy and the off/on thing does not work well with these patches at all, I
used an old ace bandage with 2 wraps to keep in down after the skin burns,
untill I felt withdrawal coming on and changed to another patch, about 48hrs
is all the patch worked on me, thanks...Joe
